RAF Brize Norton Flight Information System
Senior representatives from Thales UK, RN & RM Charity, RAF and Army Benevolent Funds visited the Air Terminal and Gateway House at RAF Brize Norton for an opening ceremony for the new Passenger Information System on Monday 16 January 2012.
Talking on behalf of the RAF Benevolent Fund and the single Service charities, Air Marshal Sir Robert Wright said “This information system will make a significant difference to Armed Forces families at what is often a particularly stressful time - easing the passage of serving personnel about to be deployed overseas and helping to relieve anxiety on those waiting for loved ones to return.”
The system provides live communication between Air Movements, Gateway House, MT Ops and the main Gate, allowing for the latest information to be available to passengers and meeters & greeters. This initiative was made possible after a generous donation from Thales UK, who liaised with the 3 single Service charities to provide the information system.
Avensys were the technical partner for this project. The Flight Information System consisted of the Onelan NTB platform, Kramer signal distribution over CATV cabling & Sony Professional 42" & 47" FullHD displays.
